Deepening Crisis in Lebanon

In Lebanon, the strikes have stretched beyond areas typically engaged in conflict. The escalating situation has resulted in significant casualties among Lebanese civilians and intensified tensions with Hezbollah, which continues to launch rockets into Israel. The strikes killed over 3,000 people in Lebanon since the outbreak of hostilities in September, including key figures in Hezbollah’s leadership.

Stalled Humanitarian Efforts

Efforts to mediate a cease-fire and provide aid to affected areas have faced numerous setbacks. The U.S., Qatar, and Egypt have repeatedly sought to broker negotiations, but talks remain deadlocked. Qatar recently paused its mediation, citing a lack of meaningful commitment to ending hostilities.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Gazans live in makeshift shelters with limited access to food, clean water, or medical care. The ongoing violence has displaced around 90% of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million, with many forced to flee multiple times. Human rights organizations stress that immediate, unimpeded aid is crucial to alleviate the suffering of civilians.
